  1. Hey guys, It's been a while since I participated in the Smart Mobile Studio contest last year. I know I've been rather silent, but now I have some really big news... I decided that today was the right day for the announcement (since it's Pi Day.) My new web site onlinemodeler.com can probably best be described as a combination of a web portal and a 3D modeling tool (where models are generated through a very simplistic modeling language.)   2. Hello everyone! I'm incredibly honored -- and to be honest, after seeing Dan's entry, I didn't really expect to win. A tablet is going to be immensely useful as I continue working on my Android app, which is aimed particularly towards digital artists. Btw, will the other contest entries also be published? (I'm a bit curious, since I've only seen one of them so far...)

Yes, it's not very pretty to have to add the "patience please" notifications, but on the other hand I thought it would be nice to demonstrate that it was indeed generated by the code I submitted and not by some other tool. I should probably have added music as well, but I wanted to compose something of my own in that case. My variant of AO does become kind of overexposed when there's a lot of vertices in the same position (like in the ferns scene.) I have some ideas of how to resolve it, but I didn't have much time work on this. Maybe SSAO would have worked out better, but I thought it

  7. I thought I'd post my entry here as well. There was a lot of ideas that I had to ditch, because I was running out of time. I was originally going to implement Screen-Space Ambient Occlusion, but it became a bit complicated with WebGL, so in the end I decided to invent my own AO algorithm that I call "Vertex Window Ambient Occlusion".
